Live Illustrations
I had the honour of participating as an illustrator in a project that holds a very special place in my heart. During interviews with child therapists who work with children affected by complex trauma, I created live illustrations.
I was deeply moved by their stories. I caught a glimpse of the intensity and humanity of their work — of how much love, dedication, and vulnerability they give, day after day.
It felt as if, along the way, they leave little pieces of themselves behind, while holding on tightly to the hope that grows with every step on that path.
Thank you to Lieve Van Lier and Nicole Vliegen for your trust and for letting me be part of this story.
And to the psychodynamic children’s team at PraxisP, from the University of Leuven — thank you for welcoming me so warmly into your world.
This special project also gave rise to the book by Nicole Vliegen:
📘 ‘Touched by the life stories of children with complex trauma’
In addition to the book, posters and cards were printed, specially designed for the study day.
They didn’t just bring imagery, but also created a strong and recognisable visual identity for the whole project.
The beautiful logo and website were designed by Hanna Maes — a warm, graphic interpretation of the sensitivity and strength embedded in this work.
